For macOS 15 Sequoia and later

Your Mac in one vibe.

Hit play. The island slides out of the notch, and your wallpaper takes on the colors of the album. Aura makes the notch, the wallpaper and keep-awake work as one.

Not another notch app. Four parts, one system.

Island

Free

Your notch, finally useful

What’s playing slides out of the notch with album art, controls and a progress bar you can drag. Click the cover to jump to the app or browser tab that’s playing. Nothing playing? It rests quietly as an empty notch. No notch? Aura floats a pill at the top of any screen. Lock your Mac and the song stays on the lock screen, with a big cover and controls.

Wallpaper

Pro

A wallpaper that listens

A living gradient takes its colors from the album art and pulses while the music plays — turn on React to the beat and it moves with the bass. Pick one of eight animated wallpapers or bring your own video loops, and take it all onto the lock screen.

Awake

Free

Stay awake, on your terms

Keep the display or just the system awake for 15 minutes, an hour or as long as you need — even with the lid closed.

Vibes

Pro

One click, whole new mood

A vibe sets the wallpaper, colors and island style together. Five built in, you can save your own, and they can change with the time of day.

Pretty, and light on your Mac.

~0% CPU at rest
Native Swift. Nothing runs that you can’t see.
Kind to your battery

Questions

Will Aura drain my battery?

No. At rest Aura uses close to 0% CPU. The live wallpaper is the only part that does real work, and it pauses on battery (optional), in Low Power Mode, behind full-screen apps and whenever it isn’t visible.

Which Macs does it run on?

Any Mac with macOS 15 Sequoia or later, Apple silicon or Intel. On MacBooks with a notch the island wraps the notch; on other displays it sits in the menu bar as a small pill and hides whenever the menu bar does, so it never covers your apps.

Which music apps work?

Apple Music, Spotify and most players that report to macOS Now Playing — including YouTube in Safari and Chrome.

What do I get for free, and what is Pro?

Awake, the Island and Now Playing are free forever. Pro adds the wallpaper that follows your music and every vibe. All of it is unlocked for 7 days when you first install — no account, no card.

Is it a subscription?

Your choice. Pro is $2 a month — cancel anytime and Pro stays until the end of the month you paid for — or $18 once, for life. Either way it covers one Mac. Moving to a new Mac? Deactivate the old one in the app or the customer portal and activate the new one.

Why does macOS warn me the first time I open Aura?

Aura isn’t notarized by Apple yet — notarization needs a paid Apple Developer membership, which Aura will get once it pays for itself. Use Quick install on the download page and there’s no warning at all. With the downloaded app, open System Settings → Privacy & Security once and click Open Anyway; updates are signed and install on their own.

Is it safe to keep my Mac awake with the lid closed?

Aura only does it while Keep Awake is on, pauses below your battery threshold or when the Mac gets too hot, and always restores normal sleep when you turn it off, quit, or restart. Don’t put an awake Mac in a bag.

What does Aura know about me?

Nothing it sends anywhere. Album art and colors are processed on your Mac. Aura talks to the network only to check your license and look for updates.

How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?

Choose Send Feedback… in Aura’s menu or in About. It opens a new email to aura@akowszewicz.pl with your Aura and macOS versions already filled in, and nothing is sent until you press Send. You can also just write to us.

Why isn’t it on the Mac App Store?

The island and the lid-closed mode need system access the App Store doesn’t allow, so Aura is downloaded straight from this website.
